Happy 237th Birthday US Marines

OC Jiu-Jitsu & MMA wishes the United States Marine Corps a happy and safe 237th birthday. OCJJ is 100% managed and owned by U.S. Marine Corps veterans. Our 15% military and public service discount is the least we can do to show our support.

Today we also have several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors going for gold at the  2012 International Grappling Championships in Anaheim, California whom we wish the best.

OC Jiu-Jitsu & MMA instructors Rich Ferrell and Jody carter in this photo are currently featured on the front of the ESPN.com mixed martial arts section. In the photo Rich is warming up Carter for his MMA fight in Virginia as corner man and top 10 UFC middleweight Brian Stann and Head Instructor Jerry Moreno look on. During their service in the United States Marine Corps Brian Stann and OCJJ instructors Rich Ferrell, Jody Carter, Ben Wynkoop, and Oliver Haller all fought under BJJ black belt Jerry Moreno of Moreno BJJ while stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Moreno BJJ has been home to some of the most noted U.S. Marine MMA fighters included UFC top 10 middleweight Brian Stann, UFC veteran Chad Reiner, and TUF Alumni George Lockhart (also a nutrition and weight cut coach to many UFC fighters and Champions).

OC Jiu-Jitsu Competition Team member Angel Alvarez has once again made everyone at our Lake Forest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school proud by bringing home two more medals. This past weekend Angel traveled to Las Vegas to make his prediction reality– with a gold medal finish in the gi division and a bronze medal in the no-gi divison. Angel has been a loyal member to our team for almost two years now. His dedication to training and our team deserve recognition.
