Empowering your life through the martial arts

Archive for ‘May, 2007

One of the benefits of training the martial arts is to be comfortable with the concept of losing. Losing is part of the trial and error process before you win.

Many people say they are not bothered by losing, but don’t believe them. There are very few people that can take a mechanical approach to losing, and go on with the next step. The only way to live with losing is to live with the process, and know, that with effort, it will lessen with time.

Losing also takes maturity and a realistic outlook on achieveing your goals.

At OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA, our instructors help the students through the process of losing. Eventually, with effort and time, we form winners in the martial arts and life.

The UFC has already proven that a balanced and complete game is the superior martial art. Competitors who only concentrate on one facet of the game perish with time. A good example of this is when Royce Gracie was easily defeated by Matt Hughes.

In today’s world, you have to have a variety of skills to survive in the marketplace. Only having one skill can increase your chances of staying unemployed. It is the person who adapts to change and stays dynamic that wins.

At OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA, we have the complete game. You will learn everything well, and can use it in real self defense situations or competitions.

That is the power of our school.

Master

If you go to a martial arts academy, and have to call someone “Master” it is basically a lock that there will be little customer service and you will be manipulated.

One of the steps to indoctrinating or brainwashing, a potential lead, is to have them go through “steps” of obedience. If this lead follows, this is the first step in slowly removing the identity of that person.

It happens to many Americans, and it will keep happening. Moonies, Radical Muslims, Far- right Republicans, Far- left Democrats, and etc., will always be a haven for the lost souls who need an identity or brand to exist.

Be your own person - train at OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA can create your own identity.

Danny Suarez, OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA instructor, won his fight against Clint Coronel in the IFL in Chicago. Danny won a split decision and he will be back this week to resume his No-Gi teaching schedule.

Unless you plan to become a martial arts instructor, a black belt is something that is added on a resume or blurted out over a cocktail party. For most Americans, your job and family should be the priorities in your life.

The martial arts in America has taken a disgusting turn towards commercialism, and heavily markets the “Get your Black Belt in 3-5 years”. The truth behind this marketing strategy is to make you waste your hard earned money. Before you know it, you are in a Hare Krishna-type religious organization, wearing uniforms of the motherland, and saluting figures you normally would shake your head at.

What will you really learn at these places? Self-defense? Hardly. Next time ask the instructor how to realistically defend against a weapon (knife, bottle, and etc.,) and see what happens. 10 times out of 10 the instructor is clueless, and you have basically paid your money to learn…….. what?

If these “martial arts” academies say that the martial arts will help or change your life - run for the doors and keep going. If you want to improve yourself, read Napoleon Hill, go to church, volunteer and etc., Don’t go to these martial arts academies that will slowly suck the money from your pockets.

If you have want to learn self-protection or your child to learn how to protect themselves, have fun training MMA, BJJ, and Submission Wrestling then visit OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Yes, you will lose weight and get in better shape.

And yes, we have a black belt program. And no, it is not governed by time or a special “black belt” fee. If you train like a black belt you will receive one by either our World Champion grapplers and/or Pro MMA fighters. You will receive what you earn - nothing more or less.

Danny Suarez, OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA instructor, will be fighting for the IFL Southern California Condors this weekend in Chicago. His team will be fighting the Razorclaws out of San Jose.
