Creating a Stable Culture
December 2nd, 2007 | by |Every school, business, or home is going to have a unique culture. Having a healthy culture is the difference of having an ok childhood or a great one. The same can be said of a martial arts academy.
Most Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA academies have terrible cultures. Some of the students are downright losers - felony records, no ethics, lack of education, and etc., - you get the picture. Having this element in the school creates a cancer that slowly will spread throughout the school. Sooner or later the student will cause trouble, again, and create a very uncomfortable environment for the other students.
Getting rid of these bad elements is something that has to be done for the sake of the other students and the business. Making sure that the students enjoy their experience is important for a lifelong journey in the martial arts.
At OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA, we take a proactive role in making sure that the culture is stable and healthy. This involves interviewing prospective students and making sure that they have a good mindset to start with.
It is just the martial arts, and is something that people pay a lot of money to enjoy. It is our job to make sure that it is an enjoyable experience.
