Don’t confuse being tough as good
November 8th, 2007 | by |Many MMA academies have fighters that portray themselves as the “bad ass” tattoo tough guy. It is a great marketing ploy, since many fighters ,who have this profile, are rarely winners. What ends up happening is that these fighters acquire second rate skills since they are so enamored with themselves.
MMA is a martial art that takes years to master. But, don’t tell that to the beginning tough guy.
Many of these MMA academies give out black belts when their instructors have a skill level of a blue belt. In the long run, the academy under performs - but these guys are always looking for the short run anyway. These are the same type of characters that will sell herbal sleeping pills for a quick buck and drive flashy cars.
Like anything in life, things take time to master. You could have the answer in front of you (that it takes years to master), but if it takes too long, many people will opt for the short term gain.
Maybe that is why so many people are screwed up with their mortgages.
