A man and his ex-girlfriend were in critical condition with stab wounds Thursday after he allegedly stabbed her multiple times and then stabbed himself in the neck as authorities closed in to arrest him, Lake Forest authorities said.

Manuel Osuna allegedly attacked his 42-year-old ex-girlfriend after she dropped off her son at Gates Elementary School and walked about two blocks from the school, Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

He jumped out of a white Dodge Stratus and allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times at Larkwood Lane and Rockfield Boulevard, leaving her on the sidewalk with wounds to her stomach and neck and bleeding profusely, Amormino said.
