The ground is the last place a woman wants to be
July 18th, 2007 | by |When in danger, the best defense is the best escape and/or proper strike to vital areas. This applies for men, women, and children.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling has become more popular, but it is not an effective self defense. It compliments a striking and kicking defense. This is why MMA has become more popular with time.
The last thing a woman needs to learn is to fight on the ground. By the time the victim ( let’s say a female) hits the ground, the fight is almost over. The sheer weight of a man attacker, and the stress, will cancel out any points of jiu jitsu leverage that she may have practiced over the years.
What is effective? The points on the body that is the weakest - the eyes, throat, and groin. An effective strike in these areas will cause pain for any man.
If someone tells you that you can apply self defense in jiu jitsu, I invite you to come to our school to prove it. In fact, we will pay you $500 to prove it against one of our MMA instructors.
This is why we merged out Defendfast with our MMA program. To learn the timing of a strike, the skills of punch or kick, takes time. Couple this with our realistic scenarios, then you have a formula that will succeed.
Submission Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu are great sports and compliment the MMA artist in the cage or ring. But, on the streets do you really think you have any leverage being on the ground?
