The strange thing about facts

March 26th, 2007 | by |

The recent debates on global warming exemplifies how facts are misreperesented and how people are easily duped. Some of the facts overlooked by the global warming community are:

  • durng the post war economic boom and till the mid 1970’s CO2 ( the culprit of global warming) was decreasing.
  • tens of thousands of climatologists need annual funding. A scare brings in a new wave of funding.
  • CO2 levels lags temperature by 800 years - there is no 1:1 correlation that was originally reported by Gore. The Vasstock data read by all climiatologist refute this.
  • no one ever considered the sun as the culprit of rising temperatures. Yes, the sun is hotter than billions of people.

What does this have to do with self defense and the martial arts? Plenty. People are told “facts”, and rely on so-called “experts” in this case we rely on the expertise of the former Vice-President (I didn’t know that Gore was even scientifically inclined). If someone says they are an expert, most people are unwilling to challenge that stance.

Paul Vunak ( the instructor of OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA instructor James Wilks) did an experiment with a Force Recon Marine who said that he was an “expert” in self defense, knive combat and etc., Paul gave a secretary a red marker and said to wait for his signal. He told the gentleman to present himself and said if he was ready. Paul gave the signal and the woman, screaming and slashing the Marine with the marker, managed to put marks on his arms and neck.

The Marine would have been killed by a secretary.

Try that experiment and see if you know how to stop a marker. If you don’t we can teach you how.
