The delivery of pain by other kids is something that is getting worse with time. With parents busy trying to make a living, or too busy with their careers, children are defenseless when encountering bullies.

Mental toughness is derived in various forms. One of the quickest ways is to have your child take the martial arts, but martial arts that work. Because, one day, they will be tested and your child will have to defend themselves.

Once the bullies are on alert, they will pick another victim.

A OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA, we teach your child how to be tough and teach them physical skills that work. With time, they will become more confident and learn to ignore the taunts and teasing by others. We teach self defense, and only teach students who will use it wisely. We get the bullies, but they don’t last long since our classes are full of students that they would pick on.

If you think our martial arts do not work, go watch the UFC. That is what we teach but in a structured and gentle way.

We are starting to see kids who are victims of bullying. Bullying comes in many forms, and the one form that is the greatest is the verbal one. This is the constant teasing and taunting that kids get from others, and if your child does not have the physical skills to handle himself, then the insecurity just grows.

We developed a program where your child will learn a complete martial arts system: this system will teach your child to feel empowered, and able to defend themselves in their mind and body. What we don’t encourage is the display of their martial arts ability, but the philosophy of walking away, knowing that they could easily defeat the bully.

For those few seconds, your child’s life could change. Just enroll your child and buy cheap insurance for their future well being.

Most of the students at OCJJ and MMA do not compete - probably 95%. The ones that do have proven to be champions in the tournament circuits winning gold medals from kids division to the recent Pankration Team tournament.

This is a reflection of the quality of our instruction. You may never compete, but will learn the same techniques of the competitors.

Martial Arts is meant to compliment your life, not to overtake it. We are not a school of Kool-Aid drinkers where students address their instructors as “Master”. We refer those prospects who need other types of help.

We are a school of normal people who go about their lives with balance and use the martial arts as a way to relieve stress and exercise our bodies.

Their are benefits when you need it - for instance for self defense purposes or bullying. But, these events happen with small probabilities and can be avoided with the confidence of knowing that you can take care of yourself and say “No I don’t need to fight”.

If you want a balanced program of proven self defense and balanced individuals give us a call. You will see for yourself.

The martial arts industry is not immune to the fickle nature of people. In anything else in life, there is a dip that follows the initial start. That dip can be problems like sticking to a diet and learning the martial arts.

It is really up to the individual (and the academy to help) to get out of that dip and follow through.

One of the great things of agreements is that it helps the individual to get through the dip. I am sure there is snickering that agreements help the academy’s business - and yes it does. Without a stable base of customers any business will suffer.

There is a two way street of service that flows between the academy and student. If the academy is sincere in its delivery then the student will benefit from:

self-defense

weight loss

stress relief

and philosophical interest on how the martial arts pertain to life.

What would you pay to get those benefits?

I see many martial arts academies that advertise that they teach life skills, discipline, and respect. I find it amazing, that many people believe this can be accomplished 2-3 times a week for an hour each session.

Life skills, discipline and respect is taught by the parents not by the martial arts academies. If you believe that the martial arts academies can, then I have a snow hut to sell you at a great discount.

At OC Jiu Jitsu and MMA, we can teach your child skills that they can use for the rest of their life. These are real and practical self defense skills that can help them cope with the fights (that every kids gets into once or twice before college) that they may encounter.

Think of us as cheap insurance that will help them prepare for something (school bullying or fights) that could change their life. I still remember my schools fights and wish I had martial arts training at that time.

If a martial arts academy is offering private lessons, chances are that you are not really learning the art. You should, as a student, learn everything you need to know in a regular class. If you have a problem, the instructor should be available to correct your technique.

Instructors that offer privates are often arrogant, and feel that their knowledge requires people to pay multiples of the school’s monthly fees. There is a famous Brazilian Jiu-jItsu academy that took over 25 years to promote their students to black belt. This is not only ridiculous, but a pathetic display of taking advantage of people who are passionate of the art.

MMA is not really the next hot thing. It has been around since the late 50’s, and is finally getting noticed. Many martial arts consultants are starting to criticize MMA, and I guess that is a good thing.

When you watch George St. Pierre on the UFC you are watching a complete fighter. There are really no holes in his game, and that is why he is successful. No art - from TKD to Judo- can compete where MMA is going as a martial art. Think of combining the best of everything and you have MMA.

Many other martial artists criticize the lack of tradition and etc., It really depends on the academy how the “tradition” is implemented. You still can have a rogue karate school - so what is the difference?

Life is about change and people do not like change. Strange isn’t it?
