Making Martial Arts Part of Your Life
August 7th, 2008 | by |Most of the students at OCJJ and MMA do not compete - probably 95%. The ones that do have proven to be champions in the tournament circuits winning gold medals fromĀ kids division to the recent Pankration Team tournament.
This is a reflection of the quality of our instruction. You may never compete, but will learn the same techniques of the competitors.
Martial Arts is meant to compliment your life, not to overtake it. We are not a school of Kool-Aid drinkers where students address their instructors as “Master”. We refer those prospects who need other types of help.
We are a school of normal people who go about their lives with balance and use the martial arts as a way to relieve stress and exercise our bodies.
Their are benefits when you need it - for instance for self defense purposes or bullying. But, these events happen with small probabilities and can be avoided with the confidence of knowing that you can take care of yourself and say “No I don’t need to fight”.
